The summit of Kīlauea is playing games! After a week of steady inflation, we’ve shifted into another DI (Deflation-Inflation) event. But don't let the "reset" fool you—the underlying pressure is at an all-time high as we enter the forecast window for Episode 42.
In this update:
THE DATA: Net inflation is sitting strong at +28.6 microrads total since Jan 24.
OBSERVATIONS: Strong double glow all night with spatter spotted twice from the South Vent!
THE WINDOW: Episode 42 fountaining forecast remains Feb 14–17.
THROWBACK: Taking it back to the massive fountaining of June 2023 to show what this mountain is capable of when the pressure finally snaps.
