The opponent does a right Kesa cut toward you. This is a Kata for you to learn to move in the same rhythm and then suddenly break it to surprise the opponent. Such techniques were practiced, especially because the katana user usually tried to break your staff by hitting it multiple times.
When you train this Kata on your own, remember that you are lightly bouncing your staff back every time you make contact. At the third hit, you must quickly catch the other end of the staff to thrust. Join our online lessons from our Patreon page to learn these techniques.
