Although much more limiting than Kingdom Hearts 0.2, custom scripts are possible with custom maps in KH3, though you need to use triggers instead of direct inputs to get stuff to work... for now.
Thankfully, 13th Vessel gave me a good tip for getting it to read Sora's character.
