Like many people, my first trip into the Uinta Mountains was to bag Utah’s highest mountain, Kings Peak. A very long dayhike up the broad slopes of this range takes me to a summit teeming with people. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many backpackers in one place before, not the first place I would have expected that. The Uintas are a less impressive range by Rocky Mountain standards but absolutely worth a visit.
