In KiCad 8, a new feature has been introduced to make comparing custom symbols with their original library versions easier. This new comparison tool lets users quickly identify differences between a selected symbol’s schematic and library versions.
This tool was added to address the difficulty in determining the differences between a symbol in the schematic and its library version. This could occur due to local edits to the symbol or updates to the library version after the symbol was placed on the schematic.
Users can now see a report and visual comparison between the selected symbol and its library version with the new comparison tool. This allows for a more efficient and accurate assessment of any discrepancies or changes that may have occurred.
