Can you imagine being encouraged to eat cookies for their nutritional value and cholesterol lowering properties?
I’ve often talked about my sweet tooth and how much the Keto lifestyle helped me with my cravings. In fact, that’s one of the (many) aspects of the ketogenic eating plan that I love; being able to still eat the things that I enjoy and indulge once in a while without worrying about the accompanying guilt, or worse yet, the negative side effects of bad food. While I consider Keto first and foremost a way of life, many “diets” flat out reject anything that really, well… tastes good. At least without making compromises on taste that quite frankly aren’t worth it.
We have many, many recipes on this channel, and I’m sure if you scrolled through them you’d notice a pattern: indulgent, care-free recipes — made healthy. The following recipe, it has to be said, ranks pretty high on my list of all time favorites. Not only because it tastes great, satisfies cravings, and is simple to make — these are all wonderful reasons alone — but what makes this recipes truly unique is that it is a superfood treat. That may sound like an oxymoron but this really is one of the healthiest treats you can eat, whether you’re satisfying a craving, feel like a cookie, or just want a snack on a busy day. You see, these macadamia cookies are not only Keto-friendly and contain healthy ingredients, but I’ve gone a step further and incorporated the amazing citrus bergamot into the recipe, essentially supercharging it as a snack and doing your body a world of good. I have another video posted prior to this that introduces the basics of Citrus Bergamot, and it is something that you should be aware of. It is an incredible and largely unheard of nutrient found in the Citrus Bergamot Fruit, a type of bitter orange that grows natively in Calabria, Italy. It was there that I traveled and learned (to my amazement) just what it can do, and I’ve been trying to spread the good news to those of you who are unfamiliar with it, ever since. I am a strong proponent of foods that have a history of being healthy and showing evidence of doing our bodies good. That is why so much of what I recommend comes from my travels and witnessing cultures around the world, how they eat, and where they source their foods and ingredients. In this case, citrus bergamot has been shown to be an effective ingredient for generations and studies have produced remarkable results. I highly recommend clicking the links to the video below and to articles on my website for further information about it as the list of health benefits is very, very long.
Now in this video I prepared two different batches, but they are essentially the same, only the second darker cookie has more Citrus Bergamot powder, with the lighter cookies containing only bergamot oil. It really is up to you and your taste preference and how much bergamot you want to include.
