Our first ever visit to Keswick Show on August Bank Holiday Monday. The show has a long history going back all to the way to 1860, attracting up to 10,000 spectators to the setting near Braithwaite, which is overlooked on all sides by the glorious Lakeland Fells. The Agricultural section saw traditional Lakeland breeds of Herdwick, Swaledale, and a section of rare breeds and there are also classes for Horses, Gun Dogs, Terriers, Sheepdogs and Foxhounds. The Industrial Tent gives entrants a chance to show off their skills in the kitchen and garden, with Pony Games and Children’s Dog and Pet Shows for the children. There was also the traditional Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling, Sheepdog Trials and the Fell Race to the top of Barrow. A display of Vintage cars and Machinery, as well as a wide range of Trade Stands around the field, with an Art and Crafts made this a real fun day out for the whole family.
