Unit was supposed to have an intermittent problem; one channel would suddenly cut out sometimes.
I therefore connected both oscilloscope probes across the volume control while listening to music through speakers at the same time. Connecting the probes across the volume control meant that I was effectively cutting the unit in half; the moment the music stopped coming out from one of the loudspeakers I could check the oscilloscope. For example, if the oscilloscope stilled showed the music from both channels I would then know the problem was after the volume control.
After a couple of hours, there still was no problem. I then proceeded to clean the potentiometers and switches with contact spray. This is something I normally do early on, not at end of checking the unit out, like in this video.
