Last night was off the hook. We had a 30 point comeback, and a bunch of thriller games that all came down to the final shot.
We gotta start in Atlanta where the Celtics absolutely destroyed the Hawks in the first half.
In the second quarter this was already a 30 point lead for Boston, and it looked like this would be a 50 or 60 point debacle of a loss. With Trae Young on the sidelines, the fans could only hope for a miracle. But then, the Hawks went on a mini run cutting the 30 point deficit down to 18.
Down 18 at halftime is still a big deficit, but it’s not impossible.
And in the third quarter, Atlanta continued their comeback with another furious run.
In an improbable turn of events, it took them just 4 minutes to come all the way back to down 3, causing the arena to explode.
So now it’s on. What should have been an easy win for Boston, now all of a sudden turned into an entire 4th quarter of absolute war on the court.
And the ending was absolutely spectacular. Boston misses on this bad offensive possession in the clutch, and the Hawks have a chance to ice the game. What follows next is pure chaos.
Hunter inexplicably shoots a three pointer after the rebound instead of just holding onto the ball wasting the clock and waiting to get fouled, but it turned out absolutely amazing.
It was that kind of night for the Hawks as they completed the largest comeback of the season and in their franchise history. What a night, and we’re just starting out, because what happened in San Antonio was equally as insane.
Even without Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs as a complete underdog battled hard against KD, Booker and Beal on the Suns. And with 4 minutes to go, San Antonio even had an 8 point lead, which saw a possible win on the horizon for them.
But in the clutch, you know that the big guns will come out firing.
And just like that in 90 seconds Phoenix erased an 8 point deficit and took the lead.
What followed was a back and forth of bad offensive possessions on both sides with the Spurs down by 1 with less than a minute to go.
But nobody could have prepared the home crowd for what was about to happen:
San Antonio survives in a heart attack finish, pushing Phoenix back in the play-in zone again. Woow.
We had yet another crazy ending in Chicago where the Bulls were down by 7 but it wasn’t over yet.
But Justin Champagnie cooled off the atmosphere with this 3 pointer, making it a 4 point lead.
The king of the 4th quarter however would respond. DEMAR ZA -2
This would start a chain of quick fouls and free throws on both ends. And at the end, the Bulls are left with no more time outs, and they foul one last time, knowing that after these free throws, they would have to go the length of the court to tie the game.
And watch what happens:
Oh my goodness this would have been epic. But I gotta say that Demar raises up way to early here he still has 2 seconds to get closer, and even better he should have passed it to Coby White. Nevertheless, another wild game is in the books.
Let’s calm down from all of this, and check out Donte Divincenzo who was unconscious from downtown, hitting 11 threes against the Pistons.
40 PTS / 5 REB / 55% 3PT with the last 2 tying and breaking the Knicks single season record for 3 pointers made.
What’s interesting is that the previous record holder was playing against him tonight. That is Evan Fournier believe it or not.
A career high scoring night for Donte and a move into Knicks history.
Another record was broken in Sacramento where Domantas Sabonis had his 54th consecutive double double and with that, broke Kevin Love’s NBA record for most double doubles in a row.
A phenomenal season for a phenomenal player.
So yeah, this was a fun night in the NBA, but there was nothing fun for Steph Curry and the Warriors when they played against the Knicks a few nights ago, and New York absolutely shut down Steph in a way that we haven’t seen another team do it this season. You gotta check out this video right here. Talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
