In 2015 the Kansas State Department of Education created the Kansans Can School Redesign model that allows school districts the flexibility to change the structure and modalities of teaching to fit the needs of their students and communities. In 2021 KSDE and Kansas State University worked together to document the journey of six different school districts undergoing redesign. Wellington’s redesign focuses heavily on project-based learning and personalized learning. These two focuses have given students more freedom and the staff a boost in creativity.
