But not their kind of ruthlessness.

The kind that means being fearless in confronting corruption, relentless in demanding accountability, and unwilling to look the other way when systems fail the people they are supposed to serve.

That message connects directly to my book, Unsafe Black Voice: Exposing Evanston’s Political Machine Inside America’s First Reparations City.

The book is not about being destructive. It’s about being unafraid to speak truth to power…especially when political systems become more invested in protecting themselves than serving the public.

Sometimes democracy requires more than having a voice.
