Kamala Harris 25 September 2024 MSNBC by Stephanie Ruhle. Kamala claimed President Trump’s proposed tariffs amounts to an increase in sales tax. Insinuating the tariffs will be passed on to the price of the goods effected.
The 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913 starting the Federal government tax in income. For the prior 137 years how did the government support itself without an income tax? Answer: Tariffs and excise tax.
President Trump’s tariff plan will not placed on all imported goods. Only on those goods that receive a subsidy from their government. It causes the product to be sold in the U.S.A. below manufactured / farm products “made in the U.S.A.”
If a foreign products does not have a government subsidy, then no tariff will be assessed.
