Kalitta Motorsports owned race day at Pacific Raceways.
Doug Kalitta scored his second consecutive Top Fuel victory, and teammate J.R. Todd ended a 23-race winless streak to complete only the second nitro sweep in Kalitta Motorsports history at the NHRA Northwest Nationals.
Kalitta delivered three runs in the 3.60-second range during eliminations before defeating Leah Pruett in the final with a 3.677-second pass at 338.43 mph. The victory was the reigning Top Fuel world champion’s 62nd career national event win and pulled him within five points of teammate Shawn Langdon.
Todd qualified No. 1 and defeated Jeff Arend, Jordan Vandergriff and Matt Hagan before meeting defending Funny Car world champion Austin Prock in the final. Prock left .005-second too soon, handing Todd his first victory of the season, his 23rd career win and his first NHRA 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally.
Greg Anderson completed the professional winner’s list by defeating Greg Stanfield in the Pro Stock final. Anderson collected his 115th career victory and reclaimed the championship points lead from Dallas Glenn with two regular-season races remaining.
