Kakutou Shinseiki ( 格闘新世紀 ) is the Japanese national tournament for Sega's (AM2) Virtua Fighter. It features the winners of qualifying tournaments from all over Japan that took place leading up to Kakutou Shinseiki. The Final Match features Minami Akira vs Heruru.

Kakutou Shinseiki II ( 格闘新世紀 2 ) took place on April 6, 2003 and was live streamed to the world. Broadband speeds were quite slow back in 2003 compared to now- needless to say.

You can see just how huge the tournament is- and just how POPULAR Virtua Fighter was in Japan. VF WAS HUGE!!! Just look at the production values of this tournament. ... And this was in 2003! Obviously, looking back, this tournament has influenced much of the fighting game tournaments we see today, whether people realize it or not.

The video was actually a compilation of my live recording of the stream, along with a fellow from the VFDC Forums- Ragnafrak.

The live nature of the original media made it so that seeking was not possible by media players. Re-encoding the media was done via ASFTools and Stoik video converter.

Various media was taken from the following sources to replace portions that were undeciphered due to slow data transfer.
