hello everybody! before anybody mentions it, sorry I haven't been talking on social media/discord/youtube comments sections. I promise I don't hate you, I've simply forgotten how to exist and interact in interpersonal relationships

anyways happy Albedo Rerun :) I've been meaning to make this vid for a few months now -- when I heard that Albedo's VA had covered this song, I was like "yo I have to make a vid out of it." I love love LOVE Dragonspine, hands-down my favorite region in the game, and I also adore Albedo for his connection to it, so this was the perfect opportunity to show my love for a pretty underrated area of Genshin. But I'm a master procrastinator and put off the whole idea until this week because we just got a new trailer and cool new clips and the first few scenes just clicked in my head.

except when I sat down to make the rest of it, I ran into a problem. this is a love song. I do have some Albedo ships that could've worked, but I wanted this to be a character-centric AMV, and a ship would've taken away from that. So, my cheap way of reconciling those two facts: this is no longer a love song, it's a "my dead brother is an evil dragon and I want to spend as much time near his corpse to learn the truth about myself" song.

(plus, we have no real shippy cutscenes w/ Albedo, and I was not about to recruit an Albedo main to stand around next to my Traveler or Sucrose while I recorded footage for 2 hours. I really am just lazy and wanted to use cutscenes lmao)

Albedo is an interesting character bc he's filled with wonder and curiosity for the outside world, but at the same time there are so many unknowns and mysteries *within* him. Listen, I don't have him (yet), so idk if this is confirmed in his profile stories, but I would like to think that Albedo exploring the world is his way of exploring himself. "Chalk pursues gold," right? He wants to know how Rhinedottir made him and whether he can do that again. And a large part of that, I would imagine, is studying Dragonspine, because that is Durin's ultimate resting place. I'd like to think Dragonspine is where he feels most at peace, because that's where he's closest to the answers to all his unknowns. Closest to Durin, to Rhinedottir, and probably close to Khaenri'ah considering how many Ruin machines there are in Dragonspine.

And I really wanted to capture this side of him; the side that's enamored with this desolate snowy mountain and eager to learn more about himself & unlock his potential. It's like a quiet, meditative self-discovery, except through alchemic research that may or may not end up angering God.

If you're a Genshin player who hasn't yet delved into the lore, I highly recommend that you do so. It's incredible, and has been holding me over while I wait for the sixth installment of a.......... certain *other* open-world fantasy RPG series that's also rife with lore.
