Retro Tech & Electronics | Jura Impressa S / X / XS Rebuild Series Part 1 - Opening the Unit @retrotechandelectronics | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
This begins a four part series due to the unfortunate failure of my beloved Jura S9 Kaffeeautomat. No matter how much you take care of them, the nature of these units is such that eventually a complete overhaul will be required to keep them running like new. No maintenance cycle will exist to accomplish this task.
I may have other issues, I cant be sure yet. I will be ordering the overhaul kit from Jura-parts.com. Its a 32 Piece kit that comes with the special bit required to open the unit.
After removing all of the parts that simply come off I consider that since I have no familiarity with such a machine, ill be catalogueing every single part I remove with a number in order to keep track. This will ensure it goes back together correctly. A T-15 removed most of the screws. The 6th screw allows the heating tray to be removed. I ended up removing the rest of the beans with a vacuum cleaner.
Screws number 12 and 13 used the special tool in the rear of the unit, allowing the back cover to be removed. The bean sensor label was annotated as 14, allowing the top cover to be removed. The metal bracket holding the decoder was then annotated as 15, after which the side panel was lifted off.
The front of the unit is designed to swing open like a door, a few hose connections as shown need only be disconnected, to include the t fitting ontop of the unit. The final hose comes off of the brew group. This allows the unit to be completely opened for service.
