Gary Maier is a forensic psychiatrist who worked for 31 years at the Mendota Mental Health Institute on Madison's north side where he became familiar with the effigy mounds on the property. He discussed two specific sites along Lake Mendota and shared a glimpse into the conscious intent of the Native Americans who build the mounds.
