Journalism in 2026 comes with increased and growing risks, from online attacks and surveillance, to escalating legal pressures, newsroom burnout and new and ever-changing threats in the field. Safety is no longer optional; it’s essential. How can this year’s festival help editors and journalists build their safety knowledge, skills and resilience? This session offers tips for good everyday practices, and introduces the workshops, meet-ups and activities taking place at the first-ever festival Safety Hub (in the Centro Alessi) over the next three days.
