Jon Bon Jovi stopped his own show at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, July 23, telling the crowd "I'm sorry, I'm hurt and you're not getting the best of me" before walking off with nine songs still on the set list. It was night eight of Bon Jovi's nine-night MSG residency — the first tour the band has played since surgeons rebuilt one of Jon's vocal cords in 2022.
He made it fourteen songs, roughly ninety minutes. Before the last one he told the room he knew he was letting them down. Train's Pat Monahan came out to help him through "Livin' on a Prayer," and for most of it Jon held the mic out and let twenty thousand people sing it. Then he told fans to hold onto their ticket stubs, said he'd figure out a reschedule, and left the stage — adding, in the same breath, "I feel great."
