This is a cover a couple months in the making. My friend Quentin and I have had this cover in the works for a while.
This cover goes out to respect my deceased mother who passed away back in October of last year, and in memory of Johnny Cash who passed in 2003, not long after releasing his cover of a song by Nine-Inch-Nails called Hurt. This song is a rock cover of Cash's version of Hurt. It attempts to stay faithful to his version, while adding a more rock-feel to it, with electric guitars, drums, base, and even some strings.
My singing in this track is, in my opinion, one of my slightly better performances when it comes to my sub-par singing. I didn't do amazingly or anything like that, but I think I did okay.
This cover could never even hope to do Johnny Cash justice. His version of Hurt will always remain a masterpiece. This cover is in no way an attempt to cash in on his success, (see what I did there? "Cash" in-- ok sorry) it is not meant to be as good as, or comparable to his version of Hurt, and it is meant to be listened to after having already heard his version of Hurt.
