The Memorable Order Of Tin Hats provided the flighty name for the MOTH Club, the ex-servicemen's members club in the heart of Hackney in East London. As one of the venues for the Showcase Festival that precede this year's UK Americana Music Awards, it played host to the festival's special guest and one half of one of music's most beloved duos, Hall and Oates.
John Oates delighted the packed club with songs from his acclaimed 2018 album 'Arkansas', that celebrates the songs of Mississippi John Hurt, augmented by a handful of original compositions.
Mark Taylor from Record Collector Magazine spoke to John straight after the show to find out more about the inspiration for this album, his passion for Americana music and his current plans.
He also mentioned his 2017 memoir 'Change of Seasons' with stories that chart his musical career, including his debut London show in 1972 alongside his close friend, musical partner and collaborator, Daryl Hall.
Following the AMA UK Awards, John returns to his Nashville home in the US, but he's not gone for long. as he's already scheduled to return in a few months as 'Hall and Oates' for an arena that includes:
