If we want young people to make a contribution in cinema, they need sustainable working lives. This talk is for employers and hiring managers who want to make their recruitment practices more inclusive, and for young people who want to find employers that match their values.

In this discussion, we were joined by Fair Museum Jobs to look at common recruitment practices that exclude great candidates from accessing cinema roles, and best practice that delivers real change. For workers and job seekers, we discussed how to research an organisation to find an employer that shares your values and aspirations. This discussion is an opportunity to rethink barriers and opportunities in recruitment and beyond.

This talk was delivered as part of our Young Audiences Screening Days event, which took place from 7-10 June 2021. To keep up to date with our future Screening Days events, sign up to our mailing list here: bit.ly/ICO-MailingList

We are grateful to Fair Museum Jobs for joining us for this event. For more information about their work highlighting good and bad practice in museum jobs and recruitment, visit their website: bit.ly/3iIwpeh

Our Work to Make Cinema Jobs Fairer

Led by the inspiring work being done by Fair Museum Jobs, in August 2021 we published a new policy for our jobs board, which outlines the requirements for posting a listing with us and provides some best practice recommendations for recruiters, which we hope will contribute to creating a fairer industry and help employers to find the best candidates. You can read the policy here: bit.ly/ICO-Jobs-Policy
