Today I had to decide what is most important; My profit or what’s right. Sometimes the answer isn’t easy. In business whether it’s automotive or another industry we have to constantly decide what’s most important. Do we sacrifice quality or integrity for profit or is our default position one of providing a fair and honest assessment for our customers even knowing it might cost us the job? Share your thoughts and ideas. Some additional insight, this vehicle had been to lots of other shops and had been nickel and dimed to death but customer wasn't given an overall picture of the condition of the vehicle and a chance to consider if it was worth sinking the amount of money in necessary repairs to make it safe and reliable or make a decision to walk away. In this case I was able to give them a lot of helpful information even though it may have kept them from spending any money. They did however decide to address the major safety related issues and help them budget for what's next or make the decision for a new ride in the future. Oh, also a quick look at this 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a death wobble and check engine light complaint and my discoveries.
