‘outsiders’ is a minimalist piece inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat’s mutism when asked about anger - or does his pregnant silence rather speaks tons? Substituting his voice, the piano simultaneously answers the interviewer and hypothesizes about musical potential to palliate where language fails. The piece speaks for the queers, the people with divergent voices, too often unheard. Purposely redundant and anticlimactic, only bowed piano strings at the end create an alternate voice, however remaining within the instrument restrictions.

'outsiders' est une pièce minimaliste, inspirée par Jean-Michel Basquiat qui, interrogé sur la colère, répond par un mutisme tonitruant - à moins que son silence soit justement sa réponse. La pièce substitue cette absence sonore par le piano qui rétorque alors au journaliste que la musique pallie souvent au langage, surtout lorsque celui-ci faillit. 'outsiders' parle au nom des divergents, des queers, de celles et ceux trop souvent ignoré.e.s. Intentionnellement redondant et cyclique, le morceau propose pour seule issue les cordes frottées, qui toutefois se soumettent au contraintes de l'instrument.
