A lot of people kept asking me how much gain the old JCM800 2203 has and if it's enough for "metal"..
well, to be honest without a boost of some sort it'll be a bit under gained for most metal applications, especially if you're playing a lot of single string stuff.
it really just needs a tiny push from a tubescreamer or any other OD to get into full metal territory!!!

Anyways, here's how my 2203 sounds without anything in front.
