Here with a quick cover of Rindou Mikoto's "Evernight Kitan"! Hope you enjoy, even with the mistakes xd

I actually started learning this song about a week after it came out, which was maybe 2 months ago now, but struggled a lot with the arrangement process. First I did a normal straight-through cover of the entire song, but felt like that was too boring. Then I created a very modern jazz 2 piano arrangement for the entire song but it felt like it was taking too much away from the original. Then I tried doing a more old-style standard jazz for the cover swinging through the whole song but that again felt like it was taking away from the meaning of the song and becoming a novelty. I finally settled on this version, which maintains a lot of parts from the original - the intro, repeating E-octave pattern (although I've altered it a little bit in the intro and outro), verse and chorus melodies, and straight rhythm for the chorus. What I decided to chop off a couple days ago was me soloing over the entire chord progression starting from the 2nd verse because it felt pretty unnecessary and unwanted so here we are! To be honest, I think Mikoto's voice and tone carrying her message through her lyrics are what really makes this song shine, so I didn't want to spend too long trying to polish up a cover that I didn't think had what gave the song its magic. Once all those arrangement details were out of the way, I did some takes yesterday and then two today, and was satisfied with this 2nd take from today (despite 2 obvious mistakes, sorry!!!). I feel like this does the original song justice while still bringing in some creative liberties from my side.
