I have three great 'jazz horns' here: The Martin Committee (1950, #2 Medium bore), an Adams A4LT, and the Yamaha 8310Z (Gen 1). They're all superb horns and it's a pleasure to have them. What are your thoughts? To me, the Adams is the darkest, then the Martin Committee, and the Z plays a bit brighter (it is STILL a superb horn for jazz or casual playing) and it fits in so many venues. I play them first with a legit type mouthpiece, one of Steve Patrick's creations - his CR5Z (about a 26/27 drill). Then I go with a deep V mouthpiece (about a 24 drill), and lastly I use a very dark mouthpiece; Bob Reeves C2J. Enjoy! :)
