Jason Yuwalarra is a self-taught musician, he and Robert Barrinybuma are the 2 best drummers in Ramingining community. I've lived with Yuwalarra and so I know everything he does is fast... he talks fast, he moves fast, he thinks fast. And he plays drums - you guessed it - FAST!
Here he is with Ramingining's own Black Iron Band, an eclectic mix of family groups speaking Djinang, Ganalbingu, Gupapuyngu and Dhuwal. Jason Yuwalarra is by far the most impressive musician among this lot which is why I've edited out everyone else, sorry!
In 2009, Yuwalarra with Dunganda Street Sounds won 2 awards at the 6th Indigenous Music Awards in Darwin, best DVD/Film Clip of the Year and best Traditional Music award.
