This review is a Japanese "Ration for Emergencies" or more commonly known as Type I Retort Pack Kan-Meshi *1 , it is provided to citizens during times of trial. It is very similar to the Japanese Self- Defense Forces (防衛省, 自衛隊) Combat Ration Type II, Pack-Meshi *2. The Type I's have a longer life than the Type II and are designed to last 3 years. I could not find any caloric information however, each pouch of rice was 200g (7 oz.) and the Taco was 160g (5.6 oz.). This was the best JSDF Ration I've had as I have a total affinity for Tacos, Chili, Mexican and TexMex. Here is a link for more information on Japan's Rations.
