Gina-B Silkworks | Japanese Girl's Day hanging decoration - hishikazari with woven wraps / create unique patterns @GinaBSilkworks | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 23 hours ago.
These paper and thread ornaments are often used in hanging decorations (mobiles) to celebrate Hina Matsuri - Girl's Day or Doll Day in Japan on March 3rd. The regions of Yanagawa, Higashi, and Sakata particularly use hanging decorations, and the Festival of Hanging Hina Doll decorations runs from 20 Jan - 3 Mar.
These ornaments are easy to make, and are usually wrapped with a simple wrap technique, which can be seen in my video here -
