Gina-B Silkworks | How to tie a knot button (using the Gina-B Silkworks Knotting Tool) - 6 bight 7 lead turks head knot @GinaBSilkworks | Uploaded November 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
This video shows you how to use our Knotting Tools - designed to be used to create small knots suitable for buttons or small tassel coverings. The example knot shown is a 6 bight 7 lead using a 3mm satin (rat tail) cord.
Based on the universal knot grids, these tools can be used to tie knots with up to 10 standard bights, more with interwoven and globe knots. The small size of the tools has been developed so that fine cords, gimps and braids can be used, and the shape aids in the tightening process to work down to cover small beads. The tool even has specially designed prongs to aid in sewing on buttons and creating shanks.
The tool comes with instructions for a variety of knots - with practice you'll be able to make others.
A real help to those wishing to create 16th and 17th century style knot buttons, as well as anyone wishing to make small knots to use as buttons and tassel tops.
