Issei and I go back to 2011, where we first met when we were studying abroad in Japan at Sophia University. Surprisingly, we both were into skating/rollerblading, and both from North Carolina, USA. (He was born outside Chicago and I was born in Michigan, so maybe this is why we both like hockey? lol)
Issei shares his story about being a Japanese-American guy, making his way to learn Japanese, learn to adjust to life in Japan, and some of the crazy things in between. His Japanese dad was pretty tough on him to get good at hockey (watch to find out more!)
Issei is currently playing for the Yokohama Grits (yes, Grits) just outside of Tokyo.
