Our first few days in Jamaica was spent with Grandma, in Hanover (about 45 minutes away from Montego Bay).
The food, the sounds (roosters crow all day!), and the pace of life were a great change from our busy lives. It was great having this time to spend with the kids and experience a more relaxed vacation.
A bit of history about the breadfruit:
Breadfruit is an amazing fruit. It looks a little bit like a coconut on a tree except much bigger. Then it cuts like no other fruit. It's not sweet like a regular fruit and it's 'hearty,' as dense as tightly kneaded dough.
HISTORY:
The breadfruit was brought to Jamaica in 1793 from the South Pacific by Captain William Bligh because it was considered an inexpensive and nutritious way to feed a large number of slaves who worked the island's sugar plantations.
