We take you behind the scenes into the Pierce County Corrections Facility to learn about our Jail K9 Academy. During this six-week academy, our K9 handlers and their partners train and certify in narcotics detection and jail search methods. These highly trained teams play a critical role in keeping our facility safe. Locating hidden drugs, preventing overdoses, and reducing dangerous exposure for both residents and staff is crucial in our day-to-day operations. Just like our patrol K9s on the street, these dogs are more than partners. They go home with their handlers and are an important part of our Jail family. Congratulations on your certification!
