Between 1966 and 2013, Jaguar sought to create a replacement for its legendary E-Type in the form of the F-Type, a car that went through many different permutations, but wouldn't come to the marketplace until the 2013 model that we all know today, although during the mid-1980s, it did come tantalisingly close to fruition with the XJ41 and XJ42.
This pair of incredibly stylish proposals that could have been just what Jaguar needed to get it back into the limelight after years of neglect under British Leyland, only for financial woes and significant over-engineering ultimately distorting the design from its original concept, leading to this machine's failure to reach the showroom, although the XJ41 and XJ42 would emerge eventually in 1994, though wearing an Aston Martin badge instead.
