Michael Jacobs from Jacobs Run joins Australian Musician’s Greg Phillips to talk about the band's brand-new album The Other Side.

The record marks a big step forward for the Melbourne trio, blending their melodic rock sound with the grandeur of the 32-piece George Ellis Orchestra. Produced by Aussie rock legend Mark Opitz, the album moves between soaring orchestrations, intimate harmonies with Susie Ahern, and strong, song-first performances from bassist Peter Curigliano and drummer Fabian Bucci.

From the resurrected opener Free to the Beatles-inspired closer How Does It Feel, the album captures both Jacobs Run's classic influences and their ambition to push into new territory. There's even a bonus track - a sweeping orchestral cover of Billy Field's You Weren't in Love With Me.

Michael also hints at live shows later this year, with hopes of one day performing the full record with strings.
