Three times voted Young Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards (2020, 2021, 2022) and nominated in four categories in 2024, I believe that with the release of album number three The Truth Comes Out Eventually (out on August 29), we can safely say that British blues guitarist, singer, songwriter Connor Selby has finally arrived. The Truth Comes Out Eventually showcases the extensive range of Selby’s rich reservoir of talent, with a focus this time on some wonderful brass arrangements courtesy of co-producer Stefan Redtenbacher, executed superbly by a spirited horn section, particularly on the opening two tracks “Someone” and “All Out Of Luck”. Then there’s the gorgeous slow burning title track, already released as a single, supported by a very tasteful video clip. With “I Won’t Be Hard To Find”, we follow Connor down a country music path featuring some wonderful pedal steel from Kevin Barry and complementary Hammond organ by Dave Limina. Plus there’s the acoustic side of Connor’s impressive songwriting skills and heartfelt vocal delivery on “Amelia” and ’Songbird”, the album closer. There are ten tracks in total, all displaying his ever-growing ability to touch our hearts, whether it be with his fluid guitar licks or emotion-filled singing voice and considered lyrics.
