This route delivers everything that makes West Clear Creek such an incredible place to explore: towering canyon walls, cold water, scenic pools, scrambling, rappels, and plenty of remote Arizona wilderness. The canyon is beautiful, rugged, and just challenging enough to keep things interesting from start to finish.
A major part of this adventure is simply getting to the trailhead. The access road is extremely rough, slow, and demanding, with steep sections, loose rock, deep ruts, and obstacles that require careful driving. A high-clearance 4x4 vehicle is required. This is not a road for a passenger car, crossover, or low-clearance vehicle. Even with the right vehicle, plan for the drive to take time and be prepared for conditions that may change after storms.
