Chimera, we climbed this route on Monday 4/8/2024 (the day of the lunar eclipse).
According to Greek mythology the Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature from Lycia, Asia Minor, composed of different animal parts. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat protruding from its back, occasionally depicted with dragon's wings, and a tail that ends with a snake's head. It was an offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of monsters like Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra.
In this case it’s a 2 pitch rock climb rated 5.9 on Camelback Mountain (Echo Canyon, Gargoyle wall).
P1- Start is just right of alternate Hart Route Gully. The first bolt is shared with the Cholla traverse. It is possible to place a .4 or .5 camalot before clipping the first bolt. The entire pitch is approximately 110' with 9bolts to two bolt belay on small ledge.
P2- 130' with 10bolts to a double bolt belay on large ledge. The final double bolt belay of the Hart route is visible from this belay.
