The story of Jacob’s Latter is amazing because it is what we call a Temple Text. It is Jacob having a temple experience and once we realize this, the story takes on much broader and deeper meaning.
In this video we discuss the timeline from Adam down to Abraham as well as the 4 generations of posterity of Abraham. We discuss birthright and how to obtain birthright blessings and how those map to or temple covenants.
That night Jacob had a dream. Gen 28:12-13 says “And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;”
The Lord goes onto effectively pronounce upon Jacob the Covenant made to his Grandfather Abraham which includes posterity, prosperity, property and priesthood power. The Abrahamic Covenant includes a promise of eternal life through resurrection and an opportunity to return to live with God and obtain everything he has.
