I haven’t posted a video recently, and several people have contacted me to ask whether I’m okay. Unfortunately, on Monday, August 3, I took a serious fall while walking to the mall near my home in Manta, Ecuador.
I twisted my ankle, lost my footing, and hit the ground hard—landing on the same shoulder that already needs rotator cuff surgery. I suffered a small fracture below my elbow, along with considerable swelling, cuts, scrapes, and bruising.
What happened afterward left me with some mixed emotions. Two men walked past me while I was lying injured on the sidewalk, but a couple riding a motorcycle stopped and did everything they could to help. Then, by an incredible coincidence, my friends Marilyn and her husband arrived and were able to get me off the ground and take me to the clinic.
In this video, I explain what happened, the medical care I received at SIME, and how the entire clinic visit—including X-rays and treatment—cost me less than $50.
I’m sore and temporarily unable to use my right arm very well, so I may need a little time before producing my next regular video. Thankfully, the accident wasn’t worse, and I’m now resting and beginning the recovery process.
