So the last time I posted a video like this out of my VHS digitizations, people really liked it even if there was no ads so figured, why not do it with this?
From the same mythic tape that turns out to be older than *me* that's the oldest TV-recorded tape we've had in our family that we still have today, these are some sections from a Thames broadcast of "The Goonies", which I've found out through context clues of other uploads of ITV continuity from that period (and the fact this is the only listed Thames broadcast of this movie before that ITV region was shuttered in 1993) hails from April 1991. This is the newest thing on that tape, as it was previously used to record "The Blues Brothers" from an Anglia broadcast in late 1989 (to which I've already posted the ads from, of what's left of that on the tape) AND earlier record a night of Sky Channel from earlier that year. As for that latter thing, well...you could proberbly guess what my next planned upload's going to be!
But yeah, the taping of this film began from the point where the film said "Steven Spielberg presents" and was in letterboxed-widescreen until the opening credits were done. Whichever one of my parents decided to record this (if it was either rather than perhaps some more London-based friends of their's, who knows), they did that trick with VCRs where you could live-pause the recording so you'd not record the ads so unfortunately no ads here save for a very, very, very blink-and-you'll-miss-it few frames of an ad with what appears to be a red car in a blank space that I'm unsure could be identified with the little that's there. Feel free to compare and contrast the end credits zoom-out with "The Blues Brothers" on my previous video, as it's MUCH slicker here but...granted, the former movie was from the very earlier edge of the 80's and this was from the exact middle so clearly tech had come a long way. What a tonally strange film to have got me to watch as a toddler, in hindsight, haha. If I was introduced to it when I was 6 or 7, I'd of got along with it better on my first watch I bet, but at 3 or 4 or earlier? I mean... o.o;;;
