"It's Still Rock & Roll to Me", by Billy Joel, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1980 and became the 7th biggest hit of that year. As follow-up to his satirical hit song "The Entertainer" in 1975, "It's Still Rock & Roll to Me" is a reaction by Joel to the new punk, funk, new wave music genres that were around in the late 1970's. Supposedly, his inspiration came after reading a review about a particular band (?), and realized he had no idea what their music was about. The song was awarded Platinum certification for copies sold in the U.S. Billy Joel ranks among rock and roll’s most talented musicians and accomplished songwriters. He was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame in 1986.
