Rooted in classic soul and rhythm & blues while embracing funk, Afrobeat and modern influences, the music is driven by deep grooves, uplifting melodies and the unmistakable voice of Michelle David. Soul Woman is the bands most personal album to date, exploring themes of identity, healing and resilience through warm analog production and timeless songwriting.
Born in New York and raised in the church, Michelle David began singing at the age of four and later toured internationally with Broadway productions before settling in Europe. Together with Paul Willemsen, Onno Smit and Bas Bouma, she formed Michelle David & The True-tones, a band known for blending soul, funk, rhythm & blues and uplifting grooves into a powerful live experience. Their albums have earned international acclaim, including an Edison nomination and BBC Radio 6 recognition.
