IT'S FINALLY DECIDED!
After weeks of testing, changing our minds and going through way too many potential mains, we've finally chosen our 12.1 main classes for WoW Midnight Season 2.
This time the decision wasn't just about what's sitting at the top of the 12.1 DPS meta. We wanted specs that we're genuinely excited to play through Mythic+, raid progression and everything else Season 2 has to offer. After going through contenders like Windwalker Monk, Enhancement Shaman, Havoc Demon Hunter, Arms Warrior, Feral Druid and both DPS Death Knight specs, two classes eventually won us over.

For Flame, the final decision is 12.1 Shadow Priest. The new tier set, reworked Voidform, Void Volley gameplay and all the extra decision making finally made Shadow feel like a spec worth committing to. There's also one pretty important detail: he's never actually mained Shadow Priest before, which makes Season 2 the perfect opportunity to finally do it.
For Marcelian, it's 12.1 Arcane Mage. After originally wanting to play Arcane in Season 1 before eventually moving to Frost, the new Prismatic Bolt gameplay, Arcane Missiles interactions and extra decision making finally make this feel like the version of Arcane worth maining. Arms Warrior came incredibly close and might still make an appearance during raid progression, but Arcane gets the main spot.
Of course, picking a 12.1 main isn't just about finding the best DPS in 12.1. Season 2 looks particularly unfriendly for melee in places, raid encounters can favor completely different damage profiles and the 12.1 meta can still move around. Ultimately, we wanted to choose the classes we're most excited to log into every day.
