Lee Mendelson's first film was "A Man Named Mays" (1963) where the LMFP documentary followed Mays through an entire season of baseball with the San Francisco Giants. Lee went from making a program on the world's best baseball player to focusing on the world's worst, in Charlie Brown, "A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1964 - released In 1969). The double soundtrack album for "It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown" and "Charlie Brown's All Stars" from Vince Guaraldi come, in part, from that connection. "All Stars" (1966) was the second Peanuts special after "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965). And, "Arbor Day" (1975) was the 15th special, and the last one Vince Guaraldi worked on, before he passed away - the day he recorded the special's soundtrack.
