In Minecraft 1.8 item frames now give off signal strength and can be hooked up to a signal strength decoder to make a quick and easy silent 8-way switch.

In this video I show you an automatic 1-wide tileable ice farm using the new observer blocks from minecraft 1.11. The main benefit of this farm over traditional ice farms is that because 1-wide tileable it is less laggy and infinitely expandable.
