While out in Italy I spotted this fantastic little Piaggio Ape — one of the most recognisable three-wheelers ever built.
The Ape was created by Piaggio, the company behind the Vespa, and has been used for decades as everything from a delivery vehicle and market truck to a tiny taxi and tourist vehicle.
This one immediately caught my eye because of its classic styling, tiny proportions and wonderfully simple design. It’s a reminder that not every interesting vehicle needs 500 horsepower or a six-figure price tag — sometimes the smallest machines have the most character.
In this video, we take a closer look at this unusual little Italian icon and talk about what makes the Piaggio Ape so special.
