Want to know the similarities and differences between the predominant traditions of medieval and renaissance longsword fencing? Let's dive into Italian (Fiore, di Vadi, etc) and German (Liechtenauer, Meyer, etc) ways of using a longsword, with particular emphasis on guards.
To make this more useful as an introduction for beginners I also spell out the names of guards / stances and techniques on screen, along with their translation. Might also be useful for fantasy writers or animators who like certain elements of realism in their world building.
