I wanted to hide a lake inside a set of coasters. Two squares that look like nothing until you slide them together and reveal a bathymetric depth map carved in wood and filled with resin. Six layers of shop-made maple plywood, scroll saw cuts, and an epoxy pour. What could go wrong? Turns out, a lot. This is also a prototype for a much larger wall art piece, so every hard lesson here was worth it.
